Club Manager Job Description

Title:  Club Manager, Diamond Lake Yacht Club (DLYC)

Compensation:   $30-35 dollars per hour based on experience

Peak Season:  mid-May through Mid-September
Location:  On-site, Diamond Lake Yacht Club, Cassopolis
Hours:  Full-time Wednesday-Sunday

Off-Season:  Mid-September through mid-May
Location:  Hybrid (remote and on-site as needed)
Hours:  Flexible

 

About Diamond Lake Yacht Club:  The Diamond Lake Yacht Club is situated on beautiful Diamond Lake, a 1000+ acre lake in Cass County in southwestern lower Michigan. The DLYC is dedicated to its community offering sailing, youth activities, lake preservation, and water safety.  It offers a beautiful club house, a full social calendar, and a pickleball court.

DLYC is expanding its community offerings in 2024 and opening bar and food service to Club members and their guests.  This service expansion has created the opportunity to hire for a newly created job, Club Manager for DLYC

This is an amazing opportunity for someone who loves hospitality, event coordination, and overall community engagement.  This position requires a proactive and dynamic individual who can lead, collaborate, and ensure the success of various Club activities.

Reporting directly to the Vice Commodore and the Executive Committee of the DLYC Board, you will have the opportunity to influence the experience of our members and Diamond Lake community overall. The Club Manager will play a pivotal role in creating a vibrant and engaging community environment for the Diamond Lake residents.

The main duties of the Club Manager are to direct, coordinate and schedule all the various programs and activities of the DLYC and other assignments and within set annual budgets as developed by the Vice Commodore and coordinated with the DLYC Board Executive Committee.

What You’ll Do

Event and Venue Coordination
  • Collaborate with volunteers to plan and organize a diverse range of youth and adult activities that align with the Club's mission and appeal to a broad audience.
  • Work with DLYC program committees and/or volunteers to coordinate scheduling of DLYC events and activities inside and outside of the Clubhouse (e.g. Sailing, Social, Youth, House, Watersports, Sports & Fitness, etc.)

Community Engagement and Membership Development

  • Support Membership Committee marketing and campaign activities to increase overall memberships.
  • Utilize various communication platforms to promote events, engage the community and liaise with key stakeholders.
  • Publish all activities, event information, and schedules onto DLYC Website, generate social media postings (e.g. Facebook/Instagram), and alternative communication channels based on content provided by committees and event leads.
  • Coordinate DLYC merchandise promotion and sales (with Merchandise Committee). 

Facility and People Management

  • Recruit, train, coach, and supervise Club team members in accordance with DLYC policies and local and state laws and regulations.
  • Maintain optimal staffing levels and schedules based on committed events, priorities, events, and budgets.
  • Accountable for communication with vendors, members, and the inquiries from the community overall.
  • Monitor inventory and replenish Club, bar, and other supplies as necessary to fulfill commitments.
  • Schedule and coordinate DLYC Club maintenance activities – e.g. cleaning services, service provider access, etc.

What You’ll Bring


Your Background

  • 2+ years’ experience in management role within hospitality, business, and other service-oriented industries.
  • Basic project management and supervisory experience are essential.
  • Experienced using social media, communications/scheduling software programs.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers and diverse community members.
  • Knowledge of event planning and execution.
  • Budget management and financial acumen.

  • Previous experience in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or non-profit affiliation used to recruit and oversee volunteers.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, hospitality, or other service-oriented fields.
  • Experience in working with Toast or other Point of Sales (POS) systems.
